Digital Communications Manager

Mission

The mission of the Digital Communications Manager is to introduce and engage people around the world with clear and relevant Bible-teaching through digital communication platforms. This person will optimize all digital communication channels for the distribution of teaching content, expand our digital presence, and drive outstanding user experience. This position is essential to supporting the mission of the ministry of Truth For Life.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Website and Mobile Application Strategy and Development

  • Primary project manager for web and mobile app development projects.
  • Responsible for managing the relationship between TFL and third-party development services suppliers who maintain and extend TFL’s web technology and other contracted digital marketing management services.
  • Ensures that TFL web systems controls meet applicable PCI Compliance and other security requirements.
  • Identifies improvement opportunities and coordinate various projects to support overall ministry strategies.
  • Maintains and ensures that TFL users and administrators comply to security procedures and standards.
  • In conjunction with the IT department and outside vendors, maintains and tests disaster recovery/business continuity plans and procedures with regards to the website and app technology stack to ensure availability of services.
  • Monitor site availability and coordinate with hosting vendors to ensure uptime.
  • Ensure cloud content storage providers are maintained and utilized as necessary, providing budgetary oversite and estimating.
  • Manages projects according to pre-defined budgets and schedules.
  • Familiarity with HTML, Django, Python, React Native, Javascript, CSS, APIs and other web languages. 
  • Experience working in an Agile development model using tools like Jira and Confluence to track and estimate projects.

Digital Platform Availability and Extension

  • Monitor site availability and coordinate with hosting vendors to ensure uptime.
  • Ensure cloud content storage is in place, monitored and utilized. 
  • Prepare options for alternative hosting environments in the event of provider denial of service.
  • Report and analyze user behavior through tools like Hotjar, Google Analytics, SwiftType and others.Build upon Studio Enterprise as the core donor management system to enable advanced features on the website and in the app.

New Donor Cultivation (Oversee Social Media Coordinator)

  • Evaluates and recommends digital marketing opportunities for adoption by TFL leadership.
  • Familiarity with marketing automation platforms, ideally including Hubspot.
  • Optimize the use of email direct marketing, digital ads for TFL properties, site and app pop ups, donation and checkout processes and more to cultivate a direct user relationship leading to increased engagement and listener support
  • Oversee social media advertising on platforms including Facebook, Instagram and Google Ads while ensuring positive ad engagement and overall campaign ROI.
  • Utilize product in inventory to drive sales and convert listeners into purchasers.
  • Monitor the user pipeline and establish strategies and processes whereby users advance from one level of interaction to the next, looking to Get, Keep and Grow listeners into advocates.
  • Report on campaign effectiveness across all channels on a regular basis, establishing Key Performance Indicators as benchmarks.
  • Seek out new digital distribution channels and build the processes necessary to establish a user base for TFL content.

Digital Project Management (Oversee Digital Communications Coordinator)

  • Create and prioritize a working project list in conjunction with TFL leadership.
  • Determine scope, effort level, velocity and resource requirements of projects, identifying internal and external resources required.
  • Steward projects through from creation to completion in a timely and cost effective manner.
  • Report on progress achieved and anticipated timelines and costs.
  • Effectively utilize tools like Jira, Confluence, Slack, Basecamp, Teams and others to ensure day to day tasks are organized and managed.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

Desired:  Diploma in Computer Science, Digital Communications, or Digital Marketing; supplemented with one or more courses in current technology.  Applicable technical work experience will be considered.

Experience:

Considerable (5+ years) and current experience managing a team in Digital Communications using current web and mobile app technologies.

Skills:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Digital Advertising platforms and products.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement digital marketing campaigns across a variety of content channels.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of current communications devices and protocols and desktop technologies.
  • Ability to organize and deliver training on the use of new technology platforms and feature sets to users.
  • Ability to negotiate contracts with vendors.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, activities and tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to facilitate and manage system change.
  • Demonstrated highly developed verbal and written communications.
  • Experience with HTML, CSS, Python, React Native programming a plus.

Work Environment:

  • Evening and weekends work is required on occasion with little or no advanced notice.
  • Limited travel is required.
  • This position is located on site at our Chagrin Falls, Ohio office.
